Dry hopping

With my most recent brew (ROC Fall) the recipe calls for dry hopping 30g of Citra – something I haven’t done before and that the recipe provides scant instructions on.

A quick chat with Greg from BrewUK (thanks Greg) clarified to add the hops after about 4 days of primary fermentation.  From reading up on the subject a little I would guess that this ensures the alcohol levels are sufficient to prevent bacteria infection.

Other considerations would be how long to leave them in for and whether to put them in a muslin bag for ease of removal (noting that the bag needs to be sterilised even if the hops don’t).
