{"id":143,"date":"2019-12-20T14:32:55","date_gmt":"2019-12-20T14:32:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/areeves.co.uk\/?p=143"},"modified":"2019-12-20T14:33:40","modified_gmt":"2019-12-20T14:33:40","slug":"the-kegerator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/areeves.co.uk\/?p=143","title":{"rendered":"The Kegerator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I made the move to Corney Kegs a back in 2015&nbsp;(see <a href=\"https:\/\/areeves.co.uk\/?p=104\">Corney Kegs post<\/a>) and had been happy with the convenience and portability of my brews.&nbsp; My Dad even made a wooden cradle for the keg to sit in when being transported round to a mates in order to help add atmosphere to the watching of a Rugby match.<\/p>\n<p>Once the Skip and Anchor had been established the idea of&nbsp;a more permanent serving method was added to the wish list and research began on Kegerators and Keezers.&nbsp; For those who have no idea what such phrases relate to &#8211; a Kegerator is a converted (re)fridge(rator) and a Keezer the same but with a freezer.&nbsp; These insulated vessels are used to store and maintain the temperature of your kegs and associated contents, with a source of CO2 for carbonation and serving and a tower with beer taps for distribution.<\/p>\n<p>As luck would have it some friends were renovating their kitchen and had a spare under the counter style fridge &#8211; so a Kegerator it was to be.<\/p>\n<h3>Planning<\/h3>\n<p>There are loads of good sites online with instructions on making these things, as well as kits you can buy with all the requisite parts.&nbsp; I decided to steer away from the kit idea as:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I already had the CO2 cylinder, spare gas lines, regulator which often come with these kits<\/li>\n<li>I couldn&#8217;t find one with the style of tower I wanted<\/li>\n<li>I wanted more control over the design<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Approach<\/h2>\n<p>The overall approach is fairly simple.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Take the top off the fridge.<\/li>\n<li>Very carefully create a hole in the top of the fridge for the lines<\/li>\n<li>Fix the serving tower to the top &#8211; along with any other rails, shiny bits<\/li>\n<li>Reassemble fridge<\/li>\n<li>Bring CO2 feed into fridge<\/li>\n<li>Other bits and pieces to make it look good<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I made the move to Corney Kegs a back in 2015&nbsp;(see Corney Kegs post) and had been happy with the<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-143","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-brewing"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/areeves.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/143","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/areeves.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/areeves.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/areeves.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/areeves.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=143"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/areeves.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/143\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/areeves.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=143"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/areeves.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=143"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/areeves.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=143"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
